Educators

Kaan Buyukkopru 

Kaan Buyukkopru is a Distilled Spirits Educator whose multicultural perspective comes from living and working across continents. His passion for spirits was born from this experience: every country, every culture had its own drink, and each spirit carried a story of its people. Discovering these traditions while living abroad inspired him to enter the industry and explore each category deeply.

After graduating from Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul as a Geomatics Engineer, he pursued his passion by completing advanced training in whisky, tequila, mezcal, gin, rum, and vodka. His professional education includes:

  • WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits.

  • Level 3 Mezcal Advisor certification from the Agave Spirits Institute in Mexico, where he completed all 3 levels of their program.

  • Diploma and Certificate studies at the Edinburgh Whisky Academy, covering Single Malt, American Single Malt, and sensory appreciation.

  • First-hand rum expertise gained during training in Cuba.

  • Continuing specialization through the Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) program from the Society of Wine Educators in the USA.

Today, Kaan serves as Regional Brand Ambassador at Pernod Ricard Middle East, leading advocacy and educational programs across the Gulf, Mediterranean, and Asian markets.

He sees every glass not just as a drink, but as an opportunity to share cultures, histories, and conversations that connect people worldwide.
