A glass is never just a glass but a conversation, a journey, a piece of someone's culture held in your hand.
Around The Glass was born from years of living and moving between continents, visiting distilleries, and sitting with the people who make spirits.
Discovering that every bottle carries the story of a place, a history, and a people. That belief is the foundation of everything here.
Educators Kaan Buyukkopru
Kaan's path into spirits began not in a bar or a classroom, but across borders. Graduated first as a Geomatics Engineer at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, it was the experience of living and working across multiple continents that changed everything. Every country he lived through had its own drink, its own ritual, its own way of telling its story through a glass. That curiosity became a calling.
Today, Kaan is one of the most credentialed spirits educators in the region holding a WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits, a Level 3 Mezcal Advisor certification from the Agave Spirits Institute in Mexico (completing all three levels of their program), diploma studies at the Edinburgh Whisky Academy across Single Malt and American Single Malt, and hands-on rum training in Cuba. He is also a candidate for the Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) through the Society of Wine Educators.
He currently serves as Regional Brand Ambassador at Pernod Ricard Middle East, leading education and advocacy across the Gulf, Mediterranean, and Asian markets, bringing the same multicultural lens to every room he walks into.
For Kaan, the point was never to collect credentials. It was to go deep — to understand not just what's in the glass, but why it exists, where it comes from, and what it says about the people who made it. Around The Glass is his way of sharing that with the world.
